News has emerged this week about the development of an online forum for robots. RoboEarth is a web based learning resource, which will help robots share, record and update information they learn about the world in which they operate. Similar to Wikipedia, the platform will enable robots to assimilate information from the experience and activities of others, therefore speeding up the learning and development process.
This may sound like the ideal script for a Sci Fi drama, but with just a 4 year timeframe, the results of this ground breaking work could easily be enjoyed by many of us in our lifetime. The project has already seen improvements in the way in which information about tasks is shared, downloaded and then applied.
