New design for the Port of London Authority's website with updated navigation and header area and a reworked footer that now expands on click

We love the website refresh for the PLA that went live this week (Wednesday 16 December 2014). Subtle changes have transformed the site and it enters 2015 having undergone enhancements to its navigation, footer and general style.

The navigation serves a dual purpose. We’ve condensed and combined the two into one and signposted the media centre to make pathways clearer. From a design perspective, the navigation is now a perfect frame for the site and the main header graphic in particular. Similarly, we’ve reworked the footer so it expands on click whilst in terms of design, it serves as the website’s anchor (no pun intended).

Taking the lead from the Media Centre, certain features are now deployed throughout the site. On the home page, the News widget now has two extra tabs, ‘Films’ and ‘Galleries’ in order to use space more efficiently and to offer the user more interaction. We’ve introduced an improved transition experience and replaced the sliding carousel with a fade in/fade out option and increased the size of the images displayed.

Everything on the site can be updated and revised by the website administrator. Widget placement and functionality is still firmly in the hands of the PLA and it is this capability that means time delays and waiting for development is never an issue.
