Google has announced this month a new release called Custom Search Business Edition.  Aimed at small to medium sized organisations, you can now add a Google search box to your website.   The way search results are displayed can be customised, thus giving businesses an affordable and flexible search facility for their site.

The main offerings are:

• Customised search results - enabling you to change the way results are displayed to match and complement the design and branding of your site
  
  
• Optional Google branding - the Google logo can be switched off
  
  
• Optional ads - the free version of  Google Custom Search will display Google ads on the right hand side of the page.  The Business Edition makes the ad display optional.

By including a search page on your site you will enhance the visitor's experience of your site:  if you have an e-shop for example, you will be enabling them to search directly for products and potentially increase your sales revenue.
