Widgets look set to have a greater presence on the net next year. Widgets are small software applications which allow users to gain information from other websites and dispenses with the need to trawl through the ‘parent' site for the required information.
So what is a widget? According to the definition in Wikipedia, a widget or control is an interface element that a computer user interacts with, such as a window or a text box. An example is a weather forecast window displayed in the corner of your screen which keeps you updated of a weather region you have specified.
The benefit of widget technology is that it saves time and in an age where information overload is fast encroaching - this seems an ideal alternative. |
