
Guide Dogs is one of the UK’s most well loved charities. In November 2010, we were appointed to develop the web presence for their digital Christmas campaign. The Christmas Puppy Chain Appeal focused on connecting with new prospects and supporters to achieve a staggering £400,000 target by New Year’s Eve. The project included the development of an online platform to register donations and share supporters’ messages and news and was integrated within a wider direct mail campaign, developed by the Charity.
Alongside the development of a simple online tool to allow well wishers the opportunity to donate and share messages, we also built a feed to a Twitter page, tapping into the power of social media to really encourage more people to become involved in the Campaign.
The Christmas campaign has become one of the Charity’s most successful to date. As well as a healthy up-lift in donations it also succeeded in generating hundreds of on-line contributions with 8% of visitors taking the time to add their messages of support.
Since the original development of the Christmas Campaign site, the mso.net team has gone on to take responsibility for further payment pages and microsites to support the broader digital requirements of the Charity. This includes various pages to encourage greater participation and sponsorship at numerous levels. Developing plug ins to enable the fulfilment house to send specific information out to prospective charity supporters and donators has all been part of the service.
