The PASS Information Management System is a familiar software package in the independent education sector. It is a complex system, enabling schools to store data regarding any aspect of the school – from pupil records and roll calls, through to billings and invoicing.
For St Bede’s School, the software was highly beneficial, but difficult to use. Just two administrators at the school knew how to use the system. Creating a means for everyone to operate from the same central data source provided an opportunity to increase efficiency.
We built a simple, easy to use interface which was overlaid onto the original database. Through a series of meetings and focus groups, we determined the most valuable content that was needed from the database, and provided an easy way for everyone working in the school to contribute to its collection in a consistent approach. In September 2010 a new term started with a new universal system, with data now collected consistently, accurately informing management meetings and planning.
