Pay per click advertising - What are the drawbacks?

On balance, pay per click advertising is a flexible, relatively low cost method of promoting your website and generating interest that can help you achieve your company's targets.  However, there are several points that should be considered and MSO.net can advise you on how to minimise the impact this issues may have on your pay per click advertising strategy.

Pay per click advertising campaigns must be monitored on a regular basis.  By not investing the time to check on the success of keywords, a company could spend more income than is actually generated by pay per click advertising.  Crucially, the advertising budget must be agreed and bid price per keyword confirmed so bid wars are avoided and you don't go over budget;

Junk traffic to your website sent via less well known and reliable search engines cannot be eradicated completely;

Pay per click advertising does not offer economies of scale - if more traffic is directed to your site, the keyword bid price still remains the same i.e. the cost per click will stay at the same rate no matter what your traffic levels are.
