The Brief Initially, the Port of London Authority required a Content Management System to enable the delivery of the latest information to the Internet. Having won the competitive tender, MSO.net has since developed for the PLA its own intranet system with user authentication and security.
Background The Port of London Authority is a public trust established in 1908 to ‘administer, preserve and improve the Port of London’. It is responsible for the management of navigational safety on the tidal Thames between Teddington and the outer port limits.
The Solution Since 2001 and as part of an ongoing support contract, MSO.net has worked closely with the staff at the PLA to provide comprehensive intranet and Internet systems. Using ColdFusion technology, we have developed dynamic site menu functionality allowing levels to be added in realtime whilst addressing the issue of user controlled access. Users are allowed varying levels of access which means that information will only be released online once authorised by an administrator.
Result As the website has evolved so there has been an increase in the amount of Internet traffic. As an accessible, comprehensive and central resource of information, public enquiries can now be referred to the site.
