The Brief As part of an ongoing development website project for directline holidays, MSO.net was assigned the task of designing and developing a website that could recreate the ‘one-to-one' customer relationship that is reminiscent of High Street travel agencies.
Background directline holidays is part of Holidayline (UK) Ltd, which includes directline citybreaks and directline skiing. Established for over twelve years, the Company has been offering impartial and well-informed advice to thousands of holidaymakers.
The Solution To reflect two types of holiday browsers: those who know when they wish to travel and those for whom the budget is more important than the final destination, two methods of holidays selection have been added to the search facility. In addition the search criteria displayed to the left of the screen can be updated at any time by the user to ‘fine-tune' the holiday search. More detailed information can be offered to visitors of the site with the combining of two data feeds and is displayed in a format similar to that found in brochures.
The website (written in ColdFusion) now offers holidaymakers the facility to see the complete breakdown of the holiday package before they buy the holiday . With e-commerce functionality, the new online booking facility provides a one-stop-shop approach; holidaymakers can research, choose and buy their dream holiday destination at a time and location that suits them best.
Result With more functionality planned for the future, directline holidays can now boast as many as 20million holidays on its site, assuring its customers that their ideal break is only a few clicks away.
