The CARE International event, held at Cannock Chase, Staffordshire, saw us enter 2 teams to tackle a 15km run, 26km bike ride and 1km canoe event, with a few mental and physical challenges thrown in to test us along the way. The results saw our first team (average age 43 years and 4 months no less) finish in an amazing third place, only 6 minutes behind the winners. Our second (considerably younger!) team came in a very creditable eighth place and all members completed the challenge (you may recall last year one team member was lost due to an injury out on the course). Both teams were delighted to have improved on their times and placements from 2010's event.
To make a great day even better, we entered 2 teams of 2 for an additional 8.5km run, and our MD's team of Richard Price and Mike Fieldhouse romped home in first place in a very impressive 45 minutes, followed by our second team of Paul Lawrie and David Walker who completed the run to gain second place!
Last year, the mso.net teams raised over £3,000 to help towards the difficult but rewarding work that CARE International does for those less fortunate than us throughout the world, and this year we are looking to double our efforts and raise twice the amount!
