Net.Matters - June 2008
In this month's edition of Net.Matters we look at internet news reported in the UK media. Our first article covers research by a Professor von Ahn on image labelling. He has developed several onliine games allowing users to play against each other to ultimately produce accurate descriptions of labels. One of his games has proved so popular that Google has adopted the idea itself. Our second article features Ofcom and they plan to get all ISPs to sign up to a voluntary code of conduct. Consumers at present are not getting the connectivity speeds ISPs tout in the media. Ofcom hope that the new code will enable users to make informed choices about which broadband package they buy into.
