The Careers on the Thames website was born out of an idea from our existing client, the Thames Skills Academy. The aim of the website is to educate young people about the range of career opportunities available on the Thames, whether this be a career as freight and passenger crew; in engineering; providing hospitality, customer service or back of office support (in HR or IT); or as a specialist.
The Thames Skills Academy worked closely with the students of Advertising & Brand Design at Ravensbourne University to create the #CareersOnTheThames brand. The challenge; the Thames is a unique place to work, how can we persuade skilled professionals to join us? The idea; The Thames is a river of opportunities.
The website itself, whilst based on the same design structure as the main TSA website, serves a different audience. As such, differentiations needed to be made to the look and feel, without losing the synergy of the 2 brands. We achieved this by using powerful, relatable imagery, beautiful, bold typography, clear signposting, carefully considered rollover states and collapsible content to make the website easy to navigate, thus making the user journey as easy and seamless as possible.
Functionally, the website has the scalability to be able to grow with the #CareersOnTheThames brand. Using the WordPress open-source CMS, we’ve given the TSA team a website where elements are editable and flexible, from the ability to add and replace imagery, tailor signposting, to adding new job vacancies and employer profiles.
We are really happy with how the website turned out, have a click around and let us know what you think! We can’t wait to work on more exciting projects like this.
