Buzzword of 2016

The future of digital promises innovation and advancement, but no one can really say what’s in store for us or what is going to be the next major trend. Even digital commentators such as Brian Solis who arguably is one of the world’s leading experts, is struggling to predict the next big thing.

Some new things have hit the stores before 2016 such as wearable technologies i.e. the iWatch. The iWatch is basically having your iPhone handy on your wrist, being able to see any texts, calls and notifications that you have inputted into your iPhone. Personally I believe that 2016 will be the year for wearable technologies and soon enough everyone will have an iWatch or Google Glass.

The digital world is moving at such an astonishing rate, who knows what could be commercialised. ‘Back to the future’ could have predicted correctly and soon hover boards will be as common as these segways that everyone seems to have. In 2015 we have seen a few things that have blown us away such as mobile traffic overtaking desktop traffic in 10 different countries. Also, Google are giving priority to sites that are optimised for mobile, so they will have a greater advantage in Search Engine Results Pages (SERPs) to sites that are not. People are always on their mobiles whether they are shopping, communicating, using social media or even just checking the time. It makes sense that sites that aren’t optimised may become obsolete considering mobile traffic overtook desktop traffic, this is a clear cut sign that mobiles are going to be the most used device for literally everything during your day-to-day life. 87% of this digital generation says that they are never without their mobile.

So the main question is:
Just what does the future hold?
