Digikent – a must for all with an interest in Digital Marketing

I thought it was worth sharing some of the great advice and tips garnered from the talks, in particular the workshop I attended with the very entertaining Tamsin Fox-Davies @tamsinfd who covered how to grow your business with email and social media.

As Tamsin said, email is another form of social interaction, and can be harnessed best when used with other channels of social media like twitter and Facebook to try to get the most out of your marketing strategy.

There are 3 key steps to best achieve success with digital marketing

1) Set your marketing goals and objectives – is it to grow your mailing list, grow visitors to your site or to increase your social reach? Set your objectives first, but make them relevant and achievable!
2) Run your campaigns on the channels that matter.
3) And get measurable results.

Some of the tips given during the workshop included a “Welcome” campaign! How many businesses actually welcome their new customers ? So how about a welcome email introducing yourselves fully, and explaining the service or product you offer? Another good way to get attention is via information sharing, whether it is regular short twitter tips, or a more in-depth white paper. Or if you do a monthly newsletter, ensure that you also post links to this on twitter and Facebook, it’s a great way to make the information flow in both directions, some of your social followers may sign up for your newsletter, and some of your email newsletter readers may start following you on twitter!

The 40 minutes spent in the workshop flew by, I only wish there was more time to elaborate on what we discussed, still I guess there is always the next event!!
