King Edward's is a school with a long and distinguished history, being at the heart of Southampton for over 460 years. Whilst proud of their heritage, the School is forward thinking, vibrant and dynamic in their approach to learning.
For the last term we have been working on the design and development of the new King Edward's site, focusing on the needs of the school as well as the user experience. The use of bright bold colours in the new site design makes the important information pop and really stand out to the user.
The homepage is built with interchangeable components which can be easily edited, rearranged and swapped. The site engages the user through use of bold panels, creative imagery and subtle animations drawing the user's attention to key items.
As the site holds a large amount of information and data the navigation and usability was a key focus for us in the planning stage. We agreed upon a 2 tiered hamburger menu from the homepage to ensure the audience would find their chosen page in as few clicks as possible.
King Edward's is built on a WordPress CMS, the flexibility and scalability of the software provides our developers with the platform to develop a truly outstanding website. We are thrilled with the result of this new site and look forward to getting the Stroud School sister site live soon.
