AMDIS 2015 Conference – ‘Focus on the future’

We was very excited to be asked to exhibit at the Admissions Marketing and Development in Independent Schools conference at the Belfry Hotel this year. This years theme was “Focus on the Future” as we get to grips with a new government and how it applies to the marketing and promotion within schools. Not only did we get to showcase the My School Portal product, we also utilised our time by talking to many schools about their parent communications systems and what would help them in their school.

Throughout the two day conference, there were great speakers and many seminars to attend which we found very insightful. We have come away with some key points to consider when advising our clients in all industries:

Key Points:

Credibility not visibility on Social Media

It’s not about the amount you push out to users, it’s important that what you do send out is worth reading. Reviews and testimonials are key to showing users and prospective clients that you are trustworthy and knowledgable.

Also don’t feel that you have to be on every social media platform that is out there, find the one that works the best for you and your most comfortable with.

Target your market but make sure you know your market

Cultural stereotypes are often outdated very quickly, if you are targeting a specific market make sure you know who these people are and what they are looking for. For example although Google translate can translate the words you have written on your website, they may not translate into the culture you are targeting. Also ensure that the method in which you are distributing this marketing, are tools or software that the target group use!

Content Body Clock

Find the right time for you as everyone’s body clock is different when it comes to creating content. The below points need to be completed in order to generate content for your website but it is important to do it at the time day that is right for you whether it be early in the morning or really late at night.

• Thinking of ideas – what time of day do you feel most inspired?
• Written content – when do you have time to sit quietly and write?
• Visual aids – gather research
• Editing – taking a step back and re visiting the article from a different stand point
• Publishing – what time of day will you attract the most readers

Marketing is for everyone

Work with all staff to create content. Marketing is not one person’s job it is the responsibility of the whole company to feed the marketeer information about what is going on.
