An interview with Theresa Gower – 10 year work anniversary
We have yet another milestone work anniversary at mso, so we sat down with our very own 'Mother Theresa' to reminisce on her 10 years at mso.
The Team are the best and the variety of work keeps my ever-ageing brain active!
Carly Magnavacca-Ptaszek Performance Manager
Our very own ‘Mother Theresa’ has been looking after us for a whole 10 years and so it felt right that we commend her for putting up with all of us for that long (it’s quite a feat).
So to celebrate, we’ve asked Theresa to take a trip down memory lane to find out what she has enjoyed most over the years.
Let’s take it right back to the start, what was your first role at mso?
My position was advertised as ‘Office Manager’. When I started with mso, my role organically grew into PA to both Directors and basically anything I could put my hand to! I assisted the Account Managers and Marketing Manager, plus Receptionist duties.
Can you remember what made you first apply for the role?
The role sounded very flexible on paper and that’s what I enjoy. The office was locally situated to my home in Kent. Having looked at the mso site, I thought this is a digital company I want to be part of!
Do you remember what your first day was like?
I guess most first days are ‘scary’ at any job, as you never know what you are going into, Dragon’s Den springs to mind. The mso office was a fantastic place to work and the staff so friendly, so I was very soon put to ease.
How has your role changed over the years?
It has changed immensely. Due to moving to Norfolk in 2014 and working part-time remotely, I took on different tasks to add to my role and now, not only undertake PA/administrative duties, I also assist with marketing and support.
What has been your biggest achievement to date?
I am pretty proud of myself to be working for mso for this length of time. My career path has taken me through a different direction and seeing mso grow and grow over the years. I am so pleased to be part of this achievement.
What is your favourite part about your role?
The Team are the best! The variety of work keeps my ever-ageing brain active!
Do you have a favourite project that you have worked on?
I have enjoyed organising events, this could be socially or client/staff focussed. We have also raised funds for different charities over the years, which I have orchestrated and enjoyed thoroughly.
So you must have a favourite memory from the last fifteen years?
My favourite memories are seeing the mso staff getting married and having their children. I carry the name ‘Mother Theresa’ for this reason!
What have you gained from working at mso?
Work experience is the forefront of my mind.
What are you most looking forward to in the future?
I think the best thing to look forward to is ‘growth’. Having COVID descend upon each employer and employee over the recent years, it has been hard but we are all looking forward to better times.
Which three 3 words would you use to describe mso?
Friendly, Flexible and Focussed.
So, tell us more about Theresa Gower the person. You have to sing karaoke, what song do you pick?
Livin’ on a Prayer – Bon Jovi
What fictional world or place would you like to visit?
Difficult one for me cos I am not a ‘Lord of the Rings’ or suchlike fan, I would absorb myself in a theatre fantasy production I think!
What is one thing we don’t know about you?
Having now semi-retired over the past few years; I have taken on theatre and pantomime production. I am heavily involved with my Norfolk village, orchestrating, directing and script writing. We have had so much fun over the years, and in the process, raised amazing funds. Oh, and for my sins, I am part of the Fakenham Ukulele Group, playing the ukulele and percussionist.
On behalf of everyone at mso, we would like to congratulate Theresa on her ten year work anniversary.
