mso project manager Carly and I attended the Kickstart Digital Social Media conference last week.
The day was perfect for small to medium sized businesses who are eager to get their teeth into all things digital! Presented by a line up of 11 fantastic speakers and the day finished with a line of expert panel for a Q&A session to round up the event.
We were welcomed by all things pink! Pink balloons, goody bags, cakes and treats!
The event was kicked off by Fran Boorman who gave an insight into how a Logic Shift in technology is changing how much power small businesses now have in the digital world.
An introduction to the importance of adopting live streaming into your marketing strategy was given by Dominic from Streem it. He shared these mind-blowing facts about live video, 82% of consumers prefer live video to traditional social posts and 86% are more likely to buy a product if they have seen a video about it.
Jade Pluck from LinkedIn success shared tips and tricks to help improve our LinkedIn profile and how we can utilise this platform to build better relationships. Following these 4 simple steps:

Engage with insights
Build strong relationships
Becky from Reflect Digital shared her ultimate checklist for SEO covering content right from the basics such as keyword research all the way to the more technical aspects.
Lauren Bennett from Evoke Media highlighted the importance of having a digital marketing strategy and why we should all know who we are speaking to and targeting. A key takeaway from her talk was the following quote “A tactic without strategy is not worth doing.”
After attending Giant talks a few weeks back it was great to see Danny Windsor representing Sleeping Giant Media, he discussed visual content. Seeing as it was the second time to hear this talk I was determined to put Danny’s recommended tips and tools into action so watch below to see my first attempt using MoShow!
Luke Frake discussed conversions and what happens when people arrive on your website after they’ve been marketed to.
We learned how to find and target your audience online from the enthusiastic Amy McManus from AM Marketing. Amy recommended we asked the key targeting questions as seen in the picture below.
The power of great storytelling was brought to us by Katie Byrne focused around the 7 pillars of storytelling and a hint of home alone! (It is November after all!)
Andy Lambert from Content Cal gave an insight into content planning, the different types of content and where they work best.
It was a great day full of insightful knowledge, tips and tricks to boost your digital marketing activity. Both Carly and I gained some key takeaways which we will adopt during the new year and look forward to seeing the success they will bring.
