On Wednesday 15th April we held our third Technology Talks event which provided an informative and insightful evening for our guests on the forever changing digital and mobile world. Our very own Sarah Pooley lead the night as the first guest speaker discussing content strategy and the link between this and the user experience. This was followed by Jo Wimble-Groves of Active Digital identifying key trends and the power and future of mobile.
With special thanks to the Port of London Authority for allowing us to host the event at their venue, the evening kicked off with networking outside on the veranda, allowing us to cool down on what was an unusual hot sunny day! Once everyone had helped themselves to some drinks and nibbles and mingled amongst the chatter, mso director Adrian Brown gathered all inside to get settled and to introduce the guest speakers.
Sarah Pooley was up first talking about how rapidly digital technology is moving and the recent debate between content strategy vs user experience. Sarah highlighted areas that need particular attention when thinking about content strategy and if you don’t already have one, it certainly made you realise why you needed one! By the end of the presentation Sarah had explained how to work both points together leaving an all important checklist for everyone to ponder which highlighted why both content strategy and user experience are just as important as each other.
With a small break to digest what Sarah has said, it was then time for Jo to stand up and speak about the mobile industry. After an impressive introduction about Active Digital, what they do and the clients that they work with, Jo explained why investing in digital is a key to success and why it’s transforming at such a phenomenal rate. This was followed by an informative list of what’s hot at the moment and the new technologies and gadgets that are evolving and being released later this year.
Both presentations complimented each other perfectly and left everyone with food for thought – which is what we aim to deliver. We have received incredible feedback from the evening and will be looking at hosting a workshop later on in the year, so keep an eye out with details to follow!
