On the 13th October the 5th annual Wirehive 100 Awards took place at Mercedes-Benz World in Surrey, with guests from the South’s digital elite out in full force and ready to party.
It was mso’s second year attending the Wirehive100 awards evening, after the first in November 2015, left us with high hopes for the 2016 event.
Mercedes-Benz World proved to be a venue more than adequate for the glitz and glam of this year’s Monte Carlo theme. On arrival we were welcomed into the venue by fire dancers and the glamorous stilt walkers before being treated to a sparkling reception, with the opportunity to view Mercedez-Benz World’s many exhibits, such as the Mercedes GP Petronas Formula One car.
Moving on to the evening’s main event, once seated Wirehive CEO, Robert Belgrave, officially kicked off the evening’s proceedings with a short, but sweet speech and a slideshow of pictures from the 5 previous Wirehive100 awards to the tune of David Bowie’s – Let’s Dance. We’re not ashamed to say we had a little boogie at our table, before being served a delicious 3 course meal, washed down with a few more glasses (bottles) of Prosecco.
We were finalist in three categories for the 2016 awards, and so were eagerly anticipating the results. The categories were Agency Site of the Year for our very own site, mso.net! Digital Innovation for the My School Portal Product and last, but not least Simon Hooker our Head of Product Development, was finalist for Techie of the Year category.
Whilst we left empty handed for the Agency Site of the Year and Digital Innovation categories, we are proud to have been selected as finalists. There was some very tough competition and well-deserved winners for each of the evenings categories. We are however very proud to announce that Simon Hooker came runner up in this category Techie of the year, with organisers stating that this was the most fiercely fought category of the night, with only 4 points between 1st, 2nd and 3rd! Massive congratulations to Simon, and well deserved too! #TeamSimon
Lastly, the penultimate category of the awards, the Wirehive100 League Table, showcasing the top 50 digital agencies in 2016. mso overall was placed 32nd in the which is testament to all the hard work, dedication and passion of the team over the past year. We aspire to be in the top 10 in the near future, so watch this space.
So from team mso we just wanted to say a huge thank you to Wirehive and sponsors for hosting such a great event. We will be back next year to hijack the photobooth once more and again, massive congratulations to all the winners and other nominees – we look forward to seeing you next year!
